(SACRAMENTO) Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) operates the Health Care Climate Challenge (HCCC), a global awards program that celebrates and recognizes health care organizations for their sustainability and environmental protection actions.

The Climate Challenge has three categories: mitigation, resilience and leadership. The challenge’s aim is to foster innovation, promote climate action, and contribute to achieve a healthier, low carbon, and more resilient sector.

Of 200 participants in 18 countries, UC Davis Health earned the Gold Climate Resilience Award and the Silver Climate Leadership Award.

UC Davis Health entered the challenge when it joined “Race to Zero,” a United Nations-backed campaign that rallies Institutions to cut emissions in half by 2030 and become net-zero by 2050.

“We are honored to be recognized for this award" said Sustainability Director Kristina Cullen. "Recognition like this reminds us we are moving in the right direction when it comes to our climate work.”
