The Green Initiative Fund, a campus program supported by student fees, offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to develop and launch innovative sustainability projects on campus, and to have a greater impact on sustainability within the UC Davis campus and the immediate region.

The Fund typically awards up to $300,000 each academic year to student-centered projects that increase educational opportunities, promote environmental awareness or sustainability research, advocate for climate and environmental justice, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy and water efficiency, limit the amount of waste created on campus, and encourage healthier, more planet-friendly lifestyles.
The proposal review and deliberation process is student-driven, led by the majority undergraduate TGIF Committee. This award fund provides student leadership and professional development opportunities both to the many grant recipients awarded each year and also to the TGIF Committee, who serve as conscientious financial stewards of the fund.
