University of Indonesia's (UI) GreenMetric shared the 2022 World University Rankings, announcing that UC Davis earned #1 in North America (for a seventh year) and #5 in the World (for a third year). In the last 12 years, UC Davis has ranked in the Top 10 World's Most Sustainable Universities. UC Davis was the only UC in the top 50 universities ranked internationally.

GreenMetric World University Ranking annually recognizes universities with strong environmental commitments and initiatives as measured through six criteria:  Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, Education and Research. This year's questionnaire asked about innovative programs in energy and climate change. This list for UC Davis includes programs such as:
