ASUCD Environmental Policy and Planning Commission (EPPC)
The Environmental Policy and Planning Commission (EPPC) researches environmental issues affecting the campus and its surrounding area and provides recommendations for improvement. It works to encourage collaboration among various campus and community constituencies to achieve the goal of creating a more sustainable environment.
Whole Earth Festival
Begun in 1970 and held annually in May, the student-run Whole Earth Festival continues to be flavored by activism in the cause of the environment and social justice and features educational workshops, informational booths, craft vendors, children's activities, music and dance.
Project Compost
A student-run, student-funded unit of ASUCD, Project Compost offer free composting workshops through the Experimental College, makes presentations to clubs and classrooms, offers home compost consultations and constructs compost bins to give away. Each day, the project collects more than 1,000 pounds of food matter from the Dining Commons, ASUCD Coffee House, campus Coffee Kiosks, the pomology department, the greenhouse and several labs on campus. This organic matter is composted by Project Compost on the Student Farm.
Students for Environmental Education at Davis
This group focuses on enhancing environmental education in local elementary schools via undergraduate students who teach the SEED curriculum in elementary school classrooms.
Education for Sustainable Living Program
The Education for Sustainable Living Program is a collaborative interdisciplinary effort to realize sustainable community throughout the University of California. Students form action research teams in partnership with guest lecturers, faculty, administration, and community members to implement tangible change.
Students for Sustainable Agriculture
This group works to engage the campus and larger community in a socially just, ecologically balanced and economically viable approach to agriculture.
