Focus Your Art

Focus Your Art is a musical and artistic event to visualize climate change solutions. Performers, artists and motivators will be competing at local coffeehouse/restaurant, Delta of Venus, for prizes and the chance to exhibit in Freeborn Hall after the World of Ideas Café.

The Student Housing Sustainability Interns and R4 will be screening An Inconvenient Truth, The 11th Hour and Sacred Planet in student housing lounges during the three evenings leading up to Focus the Nation.

The 2% Solution Focus the Nation Webcast

Opening comments by UC Davis Vice Chancellor John Meyer and Davis City Manager Bill Emlen. Stanford climate scientist Stephen Schneider; sustainability expert Hunter Lovins; green jobs pioneer Van Jones; actor Edward Norton. Later, the UC Davis Sustainability Advisory Committee and city representatives will discuss their actions and programs. Q&A about the topics and Focus the Nation will close the program.

Curious about how culture can help solve global warming? Kim Stanley Robinson, the renowned climate science fiction author will speak about American culture and climate change. The Sustainable Living Circus will express sustainability through drama and dance. Bring your own green bag lunch and enjoy the show!

Choose Your Future

Choose Your Future is a national vote on climate change policy organized by the Focus the Nation campaign. The results will become a citizen endorsed national agenda to take to our representatives. Vote for climate change solutions at our polling stations in Freeborn, or at http://www.focusthenation.org/chooseyourfuture.php until February 12th. Co-hosted by CalPIRG.

Some climate change solutions are no-brainers, others take some figuring. Here YOU ask the questions, provide the feedback, and decide which solutions give the best bang for the buck. Arrive early, get your ballot, and sit with your favorite team. Hear policymaker solutions during the panel discussion and find out which team got the votes.

Focus the Classroom

A challenge to faculty, graduate student assistants and teachers to set aside a block of time in the classroom for discussion of climate change solutions as they pertain to a discipline or to society.

To help you get to campus car-free ASUCD and Unitrans are sponsoring Fare-Free Day (ride for free on Unitrans all day, January 31st)!

Focus the Celebration
