Take Action: Avoid Illegal Posting
Illegal posting increases paper waste on campus.
Posting fliers and handbills around campus is allowed at UC Davis, as long as the posting follows campus guidelines, as specified by the Center for Student Involvement.
Illegal and excessive posting results in litter and increased paper waste on campus.
Organizations are encouraged to not hand out paper fliers in classrooms because students tend to leave the fliers behind, which become litter. Organizations named on the flier will be deemed responsible for the litter, which is illegal on campus property. Offending organizations will be charged a fee, based on time and labor spent cleaning up the litter with a minimum charge of two hours.
It is illegal to post on
- back of chairs
- restrooms
- doors of buildings
- cars
- windows
- building or directional signboards
- surface of walkways or roads
- fountains
- posts
- waste receptacles
- trees
- walls (outside of a bulletin board's frame)
Only one posting is allowed per public university bulleting board. Please see additional guidelines on posting from the the Center for Student Involvement.
If you would like to report an instance of illegal posting, please contact Waste Reduction and Recycling.
