The UC Davis Arboretum and Waterway play an integral part in the campus's sustainability efforts, with plenty of open space, educational materials and examples of drought-tolerant and native plants, and habitat for fish, birds and reptiles.
About
What is sustainability? How is it practiced at UC Davis?
Not so long ago, the Earth’s resources seemed limitless. Today, climate change, species extinction, fisheries depletion, degradation of our air and water, the pressures brought about by ever-increasing human population and international political upheaval have spurred many to consider how we, as individuals, families, communities, academic institutions, and private and public entities can reframe our relationship with our finite resources and achieve a sustainable existence.
Sustainability at UC Davis
At UC Davis, sustainable practices support ecological, human, social and economic vitality for both our campus and the global community. Sustainable actions meet present needs while enhancing both the environment and the ability of future generations to thrive.
